retro horror

An ancient, industrial microfilm reader sits alone on a narrow table between tall library stacks, its bulky metal casing painted a faded institutional green. The glass viewing screen glows with an eerie, monochrome image of a retro newspaper headline about unexplained disappearances, the text slightly distorted by scratches and dust on the glass. Beside the machine, reels of microfilm spill from their boxes like unraveling secrets. Overhead fluorescent tubes flicker irregularly, creating bands of harsh, cold light and intermittent shadows across the scene. Photographic realism, framed from a three-quarter side angle, with the glowing screen as the focal point and the shelves looming behind in soft focus, evoking a paranoid, investigative retro horror mood.
