retro horror

A long, narrow aisle in a subterranean archive, lined with steel shelving loaded with grey archival boxes and brittle, unlabeled film canisters. Near the center, one box gapes open, its lid skewed, revealing a stack of slim, luridly illustrated chapbooks with retro horror and sci‑fi covers, their colors oddly too vivid against the monochrome surroundings. The concrete floor is stained and hairline-cracked, and a faint mist hugs the ground. A single exposed bulb at the far end of the aisle emits a dull, yellow light that barely reaches the foreground, leaving deep pools of shadow between shelves. Photographic realism, captured from a low, vanishing-point perspective to emphasize claustrophobia and creeping dread.
